To the PEOPLE in FORM OF ART, 2026
The creation of carnival costumes involves different production methods, organised through the synchronised dynamics of professionals from various specialised backgrounds. Prop makers, embroiderers, seamstresses and sculptors, among others, develop techniques to materialise ideas that transform into art on the avenue by adorning the body of the community.
The process becomes a collective experience of invisible hands in Ao POVO em FORMA DE ARTE (To the PEOPLE in the FORM OF ART). The work is an invitation to the museum audience to participate in the making of a Carnival costume. At the start of the exhibition the pieces are white surfaces that invite interventions, which will result in collectively created costumes over time.
